Phone number reputation management
How Number Tuner compares to the other ways of getting spam labels off
There are a few common ways to get Spam Likely labels and blocks off a business number. Here's what each one asks of you, and where some of them fit better than we do.
Each place keeps its own record
Each phone carrier and spam-list company keeps its own record of which numbers belong to real businesses. So the useful questions about any service are which of those places it reaches, and who does the asking.
Four ways, side by side
| Monitoring dashboards | Done-for-you services | By hand, yourself | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it does | Places test calls to real phones and shows you the label that came up. Some also ask the carriers for fixes | Takes your numbers and works on the labels for you | You find each carrier's and spam-list company's own page and send each request yourself | Automates the full by-hand job, which reaches far more places than done-for-you services list. Clean a number everywhere in minutes, and get a health report on every number |
| What it takes to start | Your numbers | Often a sales call first. Some also want your tax or business ID and a signed letter letting them act for you | Finding every place yourself and learning what each one asks for (basically a degree in the subject) | Your numbers and business details, typed once |
| How soon you can start | Often the same day, with a free first check. One has a vetting step before you start | From a few days to three weeks | When you have found every place and what each one asks for | You sign up yourself. No call or approval from us first |
| Places they send requests to | 3 places named, at most | 3 places named at most, or "all major carriers" with no list | However many you can find | 14 places |
| Seeing your requests go out | Only if they send the requests for you | The reports or dashboard they give you | Whatever you kept track of | A list of every place, checked off as each request goes out |
| Seeing your number's spam status | The label a test phone showed on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon | What is in the reports they give you | Whatever you look up yourself | Spam ratings and full scorecards from the services major carriers use to label calls, often before a label shows up. Plus FCC and FTC spam reports on every number |
| Who hears back from the carriers | Alerts when a label appears or clears | They do, and pass it on to you as tickets or reports | Whoever's email you typed on each one | You do, at your own email, at most places |
| Commitment | Month-to-month or yearly contracts. Some have you contact them to cancel | Month-to-month or yearly contracts. Some have you contact them to cancel | None | Billed monthly. Cancel yourself anytime, right in your account, and your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for |
| Your time each time you clean | Little to watch the results. Some leave the fixing to you | Opening support tickets with them, often several times before a number is clean | Five or six hours | About 10 to 15 minutes |
Every column shares one limit. The carriers and spam-list companies decide whether a label comes off, and no service decides that for them, us included.
Whichever service you use, numbers that make enough outbound calls get flagged again sooner or later. Number Tuner treats it as normal upkeep and reminds you to clean your numbers every month or every quarter, so you stay ahead of it.
Lists and requirements read from service websites and partner help pages in October 2026.
More places than any other service lists
Number Tuner sends requests to 14 places at 10 companies. No other service we found lists more than 3.
Some services say they cover "all major carriers" without naming them, so they may reach more than they list. Our list goes past the big three, to carriers like Xfinity, and to the spam-blocking apps people install on their phones.
Where we're weaker
It isn't hands-off. You do the cleaning yourself. The slow parts of the by-hand job are already done, with each place found and your details in, so it takes about 10 to 15 minutes each time. A done-for-you service sends the requests for you, though you may still need to open support tickets with them, often several times.
We don't sell branded caller ID, the paid add-on that shows your business name on the call screen.
Which one fits you
A done-for-you service, if you'd rather hand the whole job off and don't mind giving them your ID numbers and signed permission to act for you.
A monitoring dashboard, if what you want most is to see what a real phone shows on the three biggest carriers. Our founder runs one alongside Number Tuner.
Doing it by hand, or the free sign-ups some single companies offer, if you make only a handful of calls a month. With that few calls a false label is less likely to land, and the free route may be all you need.
Number Tuner, if you make enough outbound calls that a spam label costs you answered calls, and you want to see every place and send each request yourself, in about 10 to 15 minutes each time. Clean my numbers
I personally have some of those automatic monitoring services turned on on my numbers, and even still I find them marked spam from time to time and have to get them cleaned.

Add your business once, then look over what each place will get before it goes.
